Our Story
African Legends Wildlife Services was established in 2008 to move wildlife across the Eastern cape. Over the years we have developed to give wildlife enthusiasts the opportunities to gain hands-on experience.
With years of experience in guiding travellers who are interested in learning about nature, conservation and veterinary – consider travelling with African Legends.
African Legends Wildlife Services is based on a private game reserve situated 28 KM outside of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

Our academic experience trips will give participants practical skills, experiences and lasting memories, all while making a positive difference in the wildlife industry.
What We Do
Our aim is for you to have the African experience you desire by working together to meet your expectations while keeping responsible travel our priority too.
While staying with us you can expect to see and walk amongst our different antelope, including nyala, springbok and bushbuck.
We do boast our abundance of birdlife that can be seen and captured on camera while staying in our reserve.
The faces behind it all
Johann
Owner and Director
In wildlife reserves across the Eastern Cape Johann was responsible for running a conservation volunteer project alongside guiding guests, which led him to become a wildlife manager/conservation officer when he also started a successful intensive breeding buffalo project.
Johann has also worked alongside the state vet to move wildlife across the Eastern Cape and then specialized in the capture and relocation of Giraffe. This is when African Legends Wildlife Services was established.
Beckie
Programme Coordinator and Volunteer Liaison
Beckie studied Veterinary Nursing in the UK qualifying as an RVN in 2015. She specialised in small animal emergency critical care with a keen interest in exotics and English wildlife. Throughout her career in the UK she has worked with a range of species.
Alongside this she is a clinical coach, who has been able to help many students become qualified nurses in the UK, with this she was able to take her clinical coaching abroad and has taught many students from all different countries sharing her clinical skills with them. Beckie also has an advanced nursing certificate in zoo species.
In 2018 Beckie first came to South Africa to live her ‘wild at heart’ experience for three weeks, after that she spent 2019 and 2020 volunteering and teaching students with African wildlife. In 2019 Beckie met Johann which is when they formed their partnership and African Legends Wildlife Services expanded.

Our team has a combined experience of 12 years. With special areas in wildlife conservation, capture and relocation; immobilization and anesthetics in wild and domestic animals.

African Legends wants to share with you the great adventues to experience in the Eastern Cape. Alongside the excitement of close encounters with our wildlife.
