The Package

This 7 day photographic safari has a mixture of experiences, including private and national game reserves where you can encounter the impressive ‘The Big Five’ roaming freely.

One of the game reserves you visit with African Legends starts your adventure off with a gentle boat transfer from the River mouth, up the stunning Kariega River Estuary to the main reserve, setting the tone for the unique experience to follow – from the Ocean to the Bush.

From the comfort of specially equipped open Land Rovers, you will be guided in the bush seeing monarchs of Africa roam the plains as freely as they did hundreds of years ago.

Aside from The Big 5 our guests can be bewildered by the zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, and numerous of the common and rare antelopes who have lived on these plains.
From the dainty blue duiker, to the outstanding kudu bulls.

Enjoy the entertaining squabbles and games of the Vervet monkeys or Chacma baboons.
Give way to a family of warthogs you may stumble across, while digging for roots or speeding across the plains with their trademark “tails held high”.
While listening to the melodious whistling tune of the bush musician – the dark-backed weaver.

Then visit the third largest national park of South Africa, where over 600 elephants roam, stretching from the Karoo area in the north over the Zuurberg mountains and south down the coast.

A boat cruise which spans across the bay taking you out to different islands.
You can experience close encounters with marine wildlife, including pods of dolphins, Cape Fur Seal, Whale species and the home to the largest breeding colony of African penguins in Africa!

We will also take you to feel the sea breeze in your hair and the sand between your toes on a beautiful beach where you can then wash them off in the Indian ocean!
Where surfing is a popular activity among seeing whales breach.

The south-east coastline of South Africa is characterised by its largely unspoilt sand dunes and sections of vegetation. The two local beaches fit the mould splendidly.

A scenic and remote hike into the gorge where you will find ancient San rock art hidden in caves. The curious Bushman rock art portrays daily life, hunting, rituals, spiritual beliefs and wildlife.

These paintings are found only in places protected by the elements, thus making it a hike down into the gorge which takes around 1-2 hours, for those who are advanced hikers the hike can continue to the top of the gorge.

Along this hike you can see South Africa’s national tree, the yellow wood holding a crowned eagle nest. Some lucky guests have been able to see chicks here as they only breed every two years!

I stayed with Beckie and Joe at African Legends Wildlife in March this year and it was the best experience! Beckie and Joe are friendly, welcoming and just the perfect hosts!
On site there are countless different species and lots of wildlife to see. Their land is perfect to explore and go wildlife spotting on!
The safaris and reserves they took me to and recommended for solo trips were all nearby and amazing. I especially liked Sibuya and Addo Elephant Park. Both Beckie and Joe are full of information and are able to answer any questions you might have which makes them the perfect guides. I stayed in one of their tents and in the lodge during my trip and both were very comfortable and clean, which is always appreciated after a long day exploring!
I had the best trip and I can’t wait to go back!😊
